Selecting an AMS, which you will most likely have for years to come, is a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. In fact, according to a recent market study on AMS use and satisfaction, associations make an AMS decision every 4-5 years, with more than half saying they are most likely staying with their current AMS despite only having moderate satisfaction with their system.  Since this is a long-term decision, there are many factors that need to be considered when looking for the right fit. Obviously the AMS has to meet most, if not all, of the association’s technical requirements. However, something that isn’t often considered when it comes to choosing an AMS is that you are not only picking the software that will help your organization to run more efficiently, you are also choosing a vendor with whom you must work side-by-side, through thick and thin. After all, an association and its AMS have a relationship just like any other – in order to succeed there must be trust, respect, and a desire to grow in new areas together.

The relationship between an association and their AMS vendor has been described by some as a marriage – they’re both in for the long haul, and must build a foundation of respect, transparency, trust, and open communication so that both organizations can grow.  One of the major challenges many associations feel with their AMS vendor is a lack of support, communication, and respect. If you’re no longer feeling the love and support from your AMS vendor, but aren’t sure how to move on, let ACGI demystify the process and show you exactly what it takes to convert to a new system and partner who you can depend on for the long term. You will see that it’s not such a daunting move after all, and your staff will be so much happier (and more efficient!) when you find a true partner who will invest in your future.
