Business Objects Administrator

 

ACGI Software develops and supports a software suite, Association Anywhere®, with over 40 modules, that helps member-based organizations run their day to day operations.  Based in Columbia, MD, ACGI seeks a Business Objects Administrator who can demonstrate advanced report writing ability with WebIntelligence 6.5 and/or XI, and has implemented and deployed Business Objects Universes in a multi-platform environment including: Solaris, Linux, AIX, and Windows.

Responsibilities include:

  • Meet with customers to determine requirements

  • Translate requirements into database and universe design

  • Maintain documentation on universe and related environments

  • Creation of ad-hoc queries and reports (Documents); Must include sub-queries, variables, and other advanced reporting ability

  • Ability to clearly define ‘best practices’ for performance and usability of universe

  • Administer security settings

  • Support the configuration of Business Objects environments and application

  • Perform Business Objects upgrades and new releases

  • Manage multiple client Business Objects universes that vary by classes and objects

  • Provide cost estimates for new development, proposals and change orders

  • Assist with development of training content and delivery of training via classes

  • Resolve customer support issues by phone and internet

  • Sales support

  • Business travel: approximately 3-5 days per month.

 

Mandatory Skills needed:

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with Business Objects 6.5 (Client/Server and WebI)

  • Good verbal and written communications skills

  • Relational database modeling, especially Entity Relationship Diagramming and Normalization, and Data Flow Diagrams

  • Oracle PL/SQL coding

  • Familiarity with Unix command line environments, esp Solaris and AIX

  • Microsoft Office experience a must, especially mail merging with MSWord, MSExcel

  • Business Objects XI, a plus but not required

 

Additional Preferred Skills, but will train:

  • Subject matter expertise in member management, event management, accounting and financial systems

  • XML/XSQL

  • Tools such as TOAD, SQL*Navigator, Visio, ERWin
